WHAT IS DELTA 8 FLOWER?

Delta 8 flower is not what people may think! It’s actually THC infused hemp flower (or CBD flower) that has Delta-8 added to it!

Okay, so first: CBD flower is dried and cured flower from the hemp plant. CBD is a phytocannabinoid found in the hemp plant that’s grown mighty popular due to its many health and wellness benefits while not getting people high.

D8 THC is a product of Delta-9 THC (commonly called just “THC”) degradation. And hemp plants have less than 0.3% THC. So as you can imagine, there’s not a lot of D8 naturally found in hemp. It’s not enough to feel its benefits, so you may be wondering, how do users experience the euphoric effects of Delta-8 THC?

HOW IS DELTA 8 FLOWER MADE?

In the early 2000s, a cannabis researcher discovered a process that converts CBD into D8 THC.

Manufacturers create THC from CBD using a process called “isomerization.” CBD and hemp are compounds with the same components, just arranged differently. Isomerization rearranges these components to convert CBD into Delta-8.

Then, the Delta 8 is refined into “D8 THC distillate,” meaning all other materials and contaminants are removed. This makes the Delta-8 THC pure. Since nothing is added, D8 is not considered “synthetic.”

The refined THC is added to the THC infused hemp flower. How? There are two popular ways. One is spraying hemp distillate onto the flower. This process makes the THC not as potent, but many people find it to be quite enjoyable, from the texture of the flower to the benefits.

The second way is “dusting” the flower with THC distillate. This allows manufacturers to add larger quantities, resulting in a more potent flower.

IS DELTA 8 FLOWER THE SAME AS DELTA 9 FLOWER?

No! It gets a bit confusing with all these acronyms and numbers. But D8 and Delta-9 are not interchangeable, although both are phytocannabinoids found in the hemp plant.

Delta 8 THC is actually a product of Delta-9 degradation. Because of this, there is less Delta-8 in the hemp plant, and it’s also far less potent.

While hemp leaves users feeling a similar euphoric feeling, it won’t be as impactful and strong as THC. Some studies have shown that THC has about two-thirds of the potency of THC. It won’t alter your mind like THC, usually being more of a “body high” that leaves you clear-headed and awake.

Because D8 doesn’t have as strong an impact, you also won’t experience as many side effects. Sometimes THC users will get red eyes, but other common side effects of THC don’t apply, including sleepiness, dizziness, delayed reaction times, altered memory, and paranoia.

Both Delta-8 flower and CBD flower come from hemp plants. These hemp flower buds are rich in natural CBD content and contain THC levels of 0.3% or less. In fact, THC flower is nothing more than a CBD flower bud coated in a thin layer of D8 THC distillate. This distillate is what gives D 8 flower its euphoric qualities. On the other hand, CBD flower does not produce any euphoria and is consumed as part of many people’s health and wellness routine.

Because D8 doesn’t have as strong an impact, you also won’t experience as many side effects. Sometimes THC users will get red eyes, but other common side effects of THC don’t apply, including sleepiness, dizziness, delayed reaction times, altered memory, and paranoia.

There are several ways you can consume Delta-8 flower. No matter your preferences, you’ll find a way to enjoy this flower through one of these methods:

  • Pipes, Bongs, & Bubblers: Pipes are small enough to fit into the palm of your hand. Just pack the bowl, light it, and inhale it through the mouthpiece. Bongs and bubblers are a type of glass water pipe with a stem that leads to a fluid chamber that filters and cools the smoke.

  • Joints, Pre Rolls, & Blunts: You can place ground hemp flower into rolling papers to make joints (hemp paper) or blunts (tobacco leaf wrap). If you want to save yourself the hassle of making these personalized hemp flower rolls, you can purchase our D8 pre-rolls!

  • Dry Herb Vaporizers: Operating a dry herb vape is no different than your regular vape. The key difference is that this vape contains a chamber for you to place your herb into, where it can be vaporized to produce vapor instead of smoke.

When smoking or vaping D8 flower, remember that you will typically feel the effects immediately upon inhalation or a few seconds later. With Delta-8 flower being so potent, it’s important that you start with a low dose — about 1-2 puffs.

Always take it slow with D8 THC, gauge its effects and how it makes you feel, and then consume more if needed. But don’t go overboard — know your limits and consume it until you feel the desired effects. Frequent consumption will allow you to tolerate the effects better and will allow you to determine an optimal dose that’s right for you and your needs.

A regular serving of D8 THC flower is about 1-5 mg or approximately 1-3 puffs. You’ll start to feel instant moderate effects. We recommend waiting about 20 minutes until you take more hits to see how you feel. The last thing you want to do is overdo it, especially if you’re new to D8 THC.

A strong serving is any serving above the normal amount of puffs you typically consume. As we previously mentioned, a regular serving is 1-3 puffs (1-5 mg Delta 8 THC). Although there is no one-size-fits-all serving for this amount, that doesn’t mean you can start puffing away. You should always be careful not to take too much and only consume what you can optimally handle to achieve your desired results.

DOES THC FLOWER SMELL?

This THC doesn’t have a strong smell. It should barely have a smell at all.

What gives Delta 8 flower a smell is the terpenes that are added to each strain. And each strain has a different terpene profile. For example, some smell woody and piney. Others smell citrusy and fruity.

The D8 flower won’t have much of a smell until it’s smoked. This is when you will get the full aroma profile of each strain.
