So maybe you take CBD in every single way you can, or maybe you’ve never tried it before. No matter your experience level, CBD pills are one of the best ways to enjoy CBD. Why? Too many reasons to count! We’re only kidding, of course. We can explain all the reasons why CBD pills are the ideal product. Keep reading to find out what these discreet, easy-to-use edibles have to offer!

What Are CBD Pills?

CBD pills are pretty much exactly what they sound like – CBD in the form of an easily-swallowable pill. CBD, which stands for cannabidiol, is a type of naturally-occurring plant compound classified as a phytocannabinoid. It is found in rich concentrations in hemp, a plant with many uses.

Unlike its well-known cousin, THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), CBD is non-intoxicating – it doesn’t produce a “high.” CBD is an exceedingly therapeutic compound that has exploded in popularity for its soothing, calming benefits. Many people use CBD to help them sleep or ease their nervous thoughts.

Our vegan CBD capsules are made using all-natural, organic ingredients. In addition to pure CBD, we add coconut powder to balance the potency of variously dosed CBD pills. This allows us to make capsules with various potencies in one standard capsule size.

Coconut powder does more than balance the potency, however. As an alkaline food, coconut powder adds to our CBD capsules’ nutritional value by naturally balancing the body’s pH levels. It also has medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), which are fatty acids that improve the CBD’s absorption rate.

How Do CBD Pills Work?

CBD capsules work differently than CBD lotions or vapes that you may have tried. While those two methods take action through the skin and lungs, respectively, CBD capsules take effect through digestion.

The digestion process takes longer than absorption or inhalation methods because the CBD must pass through the intestines and liver before reaching the bloodstream. But, the effects from swallowing CBD also tend to last longer than other methods.

As your gut digests the capsules, the CBD  travels to the liver for filtration. From there, it goes to the bloodstream to circulate. The bloodstream carries the CBD throughout your body so it can interact with your cannabinoid receptors.

These receptors are a key aspect of the endocannabinoid system (ECS), a signaling machine that plays a leading role in maintaining balance in the body. The ECS does this by regulating bodily functions. Usually, the ECS relies on the body’s naturally-produced endocannabinoid to perform this job.

For instance, if you get a cut, endocannabinoids will bind to the receptors near the injury and signal the ECS to begin anti-inflammatory and immune responses. The ECS also regulates functions such as temperature, stress, appetite, mood, digestion, pain responses, and many more.

When you ingest CBD, a phytocannabinoid, it supplements your natural endocannabinoids and can increase the functionality of your ECS. That’s why CBD is often touted as a “catch-all” remedy these days.

While CBD certainly isn’t a magical medication of any kind, its effects are extensive, far-reaching, and very beneficial. Because it works to improve the function of a body-wide regulating system, taking CBD is a holistic natural remedy.

Are CBD Pills Legal?

Yes, CBD capsules/pills are 100% legal, as long as they comply with federal guidelines. The 2018 Farm Bill established that hemp and its extracts, including CBD, must contain 0.3% or less THC. This ensures that CBD-rich hemp and CBD products won’t intoxicate you.

Although CBD is fully legal in the United States, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) hasn’t fully cleared it for medical use. Currently, there is only one approved CBD medication on the market – an anti-seizure medication called Epidiolex, which has had tremendous success.

What Are the Benefits of CBD Pills?

CBD pills are a convenient, hassle-free way to enjoy the benefits of CBD. Don’t get us wrong, we love CBD oils and vapes, but those methods don’t always work for everyone. CBD oil involves measuring your dose each time, and vaping might require a trip outside.

If you need an ultra-simple way to add CBD to your daily routine, CBD capsules are 100% the way to go. You can take them with your daily vitamins or medications to keep your routine going! Before starting CBD, check with your doctor about how it will interact with your medications.

CBD capsules lack the light, nutty scent and flavor of CBD oil, which most people don’t mind, but some prefer to avoid. They’re also incredibly discreet. If you’re halfway through the workday and need a therapeutic reset, swallowing a capsule is a lot more inconspicuous than mixing oil into your coffee.

It’s important to remember that CBD is fully legal and non-intoxicating. Taking CBD isn’t something you should feel like you HAVE to hide. But if you’d prefer to keep it to yourself, CBD capsules are a great way to do so.

The Perks of CBD

Now, on to the benefits of CBD in general. CBD’s soothing properties are all-encompassing – they work to relax your body, mind, and soul. Because it’s non-intoxicating, CBD is a marvelous calming aid for any time of the day, and it tends to lend itself to the mood and needs of the consumer.

If you need help clearing your mind, relaxing your shoulders, and drifting off to sleep, CBD can help you achieve those goals. It doesn’t so much put you to sleep, but rather it releases the tensions throughout your body and mind so you can sink into a relaxed state.

CBD can also work the other way, though. Many people use CBD in the morning to start on a balanced and peaceful note. Rather than focusing on the loud, overcrowded metro, CBD can help you shake off those annoyances and soak in the beauty of the morning light.

The centering abilities of CBD can also help you focus on reading, creative tasks, cooking, meditating, yoga, and more! In addition to all of those soothing mental benefits, CBD can help relieve a vast range of pesky ailments, including:

  • Upset stomach
  • Swelling/puffiness
  • Redness/irritation
  • Muscle soreness
  • Tension
  • Worried/nervous thinking
  • Involuntary muscle movements
  • Appetite concerns
  • And many more!

How Many Pills Should I Take?

Step number one here is to figure out your ideal CBD dosage range. A CBD dosage range indicates both your mild, lower dose and your strong, higher dose. We always recommend starting at the mild end of your dosage range if you’re new to taking CBD.  You can always take more if you feel that you need it.

In general, we recommend 0.25 (lower dose) to 0.5mg (higher dose) of CBD per pound of your body weight. Let’s go over an example of calculating a dosage range for a 150-pound adult.

  • Multiply 150 by 0.25 (150 × 0.25) to find your mild dose: 37.5mg.
  • Multiply 150 by 0.5 (150 × 0.5) to find your strong dose: 75mg.
  • The dosage range for a 150-pound adult is 37.5 to 75mg of CBD.

Once you’ve figured out your dosage range, you can choose a bottle of capsules for your personal needs. We make four differently dosed bottles with 30 CBD pills each: 300 total mg (10mg/pill), 750 total mg (25mg/pill), 1,500 total mg (50mg/pill), and 3,000 total mg (100mg/pill).

One more benefit of our CBD capsules: you can break them open and mix them into food or water. If you don’t feel like swallowing a pill (or multiple pills), simply break open your capsule(s) and sprinkle it into your morning coffee, a glass of water, or into wet foods like soup, sauce, guacamole, etc.

Do CBD Pills Work Better Than CBD Oil?

There is no “better” form of CBD product – they all feature the same active ingredient: cannabidiol. CBD capsules and CBD oil work similarly in that they’re both digested and their therapeutic effects last for similar lengths of time. The main difference is personal consumption preference.

CBD capsules and CBD oil are also both very versatile forms of CBD. You can mix both products into a wide range of foods and beverages, which adds diversity and personal flair to a CBD routine. Plus, you can take them both on their own. However, the capsules do have the advantage of being tasteless and odorless.
